Melly Camilien

I’m a Haitian-American visual artist, illustrator, and art educator based in South Florida. My work blends digital illustration, painting, and mixed media to explore girlhood, softness, and cultural identity across the African diaspora.

I’m especially drawn to moments that invite viewers to slow down and reconnect with the stories held in everyday life. Through vibrant color, expressive figures, and playful symbolism, my work reflects themes of memory, joy, nature, and the beauty found in ordinary experiences.

While many of my pieces center feminine perspectives, my practice also embraces influences from pop culture, humor, and the world around me. I aim to create work that sparks curiosity, encourages reflection, and reminds viewers to find joy in the present moment.

As both an artist and educator, storytelling sits at the center of my practice. Whether I’m creating a painting, developing a digital illustration, or teaching students how to find their own creative voice, my goal is to create spaces where people feel seen, inspired, and free to imagine new possibilities.
