ART CLASS
Confident & Colorful Landscapes in Oil Paint with Artist Daniel Roemmelt
Have you ever wished you could create your own colorful landscape inspired by a photo of your favorite place? This class will reshape your creativity.
INSTRUCTOR: Daniel Roemmelt, a 39-year arts educator and a full-time artist.
This course is appropriate for ages 16 to adult and is appropriate for beginners, intermediate and advanced students.
LOCATION: ArtsUnited, Inc. Gallery, 201 N Dixie Hwy, Wilton Manors
SUPPLIES: will be provided, but if you have oil paints and brushes, and an easel, please bring them along.

CLASS ONE:
How do you decide what to leave in, take out, add or change in the scene? How do you simplify and convey what interests you most in the reference photo? How do you compose a landscape painting so that it’s successful? Investigate paintings of Wolf Kahn, Vincent van Gogh, and Claude Monet, and contemporary artists. Using a grid system over your photograph, it will be transferred onto a large format canvas, using white charcoal on a toned canvas?
CLASS TWO:
How do you paint vibrant and expressive? Investigate Wayne Thiebaud, David Hockney, and George O’Keefe. Discussion on color theory and how to mix colors. Begin applying layers of underpainting. Instructor will paint alone with the students as demonstration and will provide group and individual instruction. Critique.
CLASS THREE:
What are options for applying paint strokes, adding texture? Creating light. Investigate artists Camilla Engstrom, Richard Diebenkorn, and April Gornick and others. Critique and further develop your painting toward completion in this session.
