ArtsUnited Painting Class: Exploring Oil Paints With Artist Daniel Roemmelt

Tuesday March 11, 18 and 25, 2025 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
The course consists of 3 classes, $100 total.
The course is appropriate for ages 16 to adult and is appropriate for Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced students. All materials will be provided by the instructor. But, if you have supplies, please feel free to bring them along.
CLASS ONE: Introductions, setting up a still life, using proper lighting, demonstrate the effects of light on an object, preparing a canvas, using a viewfinder, drawing proportions, drawing in closed forms, critique. Preparing your monochromatic palette, various brushes, mediums, solvents, gauging values, working from dark to light, proper clean-up of oil paints.
CLASS TWO: Critique, color theory, color mixing, playing with paint applications, logical progression. Demonstrate various textures, color choices, steady progression showing range of values, strong contrast, dramatic effects, creative color choices.
CLASS THREE: Critique, individual direction, color mixing, paint application, definition, clear, logical progression, strong highlights and shadows. Glazing and scumbling techniques, finishing your painting, signature, framing.
