Liv Cook
Liv Cook is a 21-year-old portrait artist based in South Florida, originally from Pittsburgh, PA. Liv’s journey into art began with 13 years of classical ballet, which nurtured her appreciation for the human body’s expressive power. After studying Visual Arts at the Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts School from 2015 to 2018, she began developing technical skills and exploring art on a professional level.
In 2022, Liv’s interest in the human face intensified when she attended makeup and esthetician school, which inspired her to pursue portraiture. Her process began with abstract representation and evolved into realistic portraits, blending makeup techniques with painting to create dynamic, 2D-3D compositions.
Starting with self-portraits, Liv’s work has become a meditative exploration of identity, examining themes of vulnerability, authenticity, and self-expression. Influenced by the queer and alternative art scenes of the 1970s-90s, she draws from the raw self expression of those eras. Since 2024, Liv has been exhibiting her work in South Florida, using her art to reflect the beauty of individuality and the cultural mosaic we live within. Through her paintings, Liv celebrates the power of authenticity through exploring the idea of self.

“By embracing the unfiltered expression of my inner world through art, I have come to appreciate my own beauty, both inside and out, and hope to share and inspire that celebration of authenticity with others.”
